ACE COMBAT 8 PC Crashing: Official Troubleshooting
Windows Steam guidance from the September 29 and October 2, 2026 announcements. Complete resolution unconfirmed.
At a glance
For a Windows Steam crash, compare your GPU driver with the recommendation shown at launch, leave at least 16 GB free on the game’s SSD and keep Windows virtual memory enabled. These are temporary official suggestions, not a guaranteed fix. ST-3100001 is a separate Online disconnect code.
Identify the symptom first
The publisher acknowledged unexpected exits during Steam play on September 29, 2026, noting that the cause may not be limited to particular hardware. On October 2, it was still collecting PC specifications and symptoms. The announcements reviewed for this guide do not confirm that every crash has been fixed.
A direct exit during startup, loading or play belongs to the crash-check path below. An Online message with ST-3100001 is a general server-disconnection code; treat it separately.
Work through the official crash checks
- Record the mission, location, error message and whether the exit repeats at the same point.
- Compare the GPU driver with the recommended version shown by the game at launch. If it differs, follow that recommendation. This is not a blanket instruction to install any newest driver or roll back to an arbitrary version.
- Leave at least 16 GB free on the SSD where the game is installed and confirm that Windows virtual memory is enabled. The official temporary suggestion does not prescribe one fixed page-file size for every PC.
- Repeat the original startup or mission steps. A useful success check is passing the previous crash point and remaining stable across repeated runs.
If the game continues to exit, retain GPU, CPU, RAM, operating-system and DirectX details, other running applications and the exact symptom for further investigation.
ST-3100001: check Windows time synchronization
For this Online disconnect code, the official announcement recommends checking Windows time synchronization. Do not assume the crash instructions above address the same problem.
What this checklist establishes
This page organizes official known-issue guidance. It has not reproduced a crash on your hardware and does not promise that changing a setting will resolve every exit. Patch status must be updated from a later official announcement, rather than inferred from a successful run on another machine.
