ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE — Online Levels, Caps & Blueprints
Online rules and an attributed F-35C demonstration. Costs, rewards and limits must be checked on the current aircraft/season screen; no universal farming formula.
At a glance
An aircraft level and its level cap are different. A cap unlock can require ZOLL, that aircraft’s Upgrade Blueprints and General Purpose Upgrade Blueprints together; XP is separate. Read every requirement before spending materials.
Aircraft level and level cap are different
In ACE COMBAT ONLINE, raising an aircraft’s level cap gives it room to gain more levels; it does not automatically award those levels. If progress appears stuck, check the selected aircraft’s actual level, its current cap and the requirements for the next cap increase.
The Terebinth’s F-35C demonstration shows a cap-unlock confirmation requiring ZOLL, F-35C Upgrade Blueprints and General Purpose Upgrade Blueprints together. It then shows a separate COMBAT XP Memory action. These are different transactions, not interchangeable ways of paying for the same thing.
Read each requirement separately
| Item or progress | What to check |
|---|---|
| Aircraft level / COMBAT XP | Progress on the aircraft you intend to use; compare its level with its cap |
| Aircraft level cap | The next unlock and its complete list of costs |
| Aircraft-specific Upgrade Blueprints | The exact aircraft name; a different plane’s blueprints are not the listed requirement |
| General Purpose Upgrade Blueprints | An additional requirement where the cap-unlock screen lists them; not a substitute for every aircraft blueprint |
| ZOLL | The currency needed for the transaction, separate from blueprint balances |
| ACE PASS XP | Pass progression from Online missions, separate from the selected aircraft’s level |
The official FAQ also distinguishes Online from Campaign: the two have separate progression and save data. An aircraft unlocked in Campaign still needs to be acquired through Online’s own system.
A checklist for a stalled upgrade
- Select the aircraft you want to improve and open its upgrade or level-cap details. Check its exact model and current level/cap.
- Read every required-material row. A large General Purpose balance does not replace a missing aircraft-specific requirement.
- Decide whether you need XP, a cap unlock, or both. Buying room for more levels is not the same as filling the XP bar.
- For missing aircraft blueprints, check the Online shop’s matching item and ZOLL price. For General Purpose materials, inspect the rewards currently offered by special missions, the ACE PASS and Challenges.
- Check the reward’s exact name, claim state and any remaining allowance before repeating an activity for it.
- Before confirming a purchase or unlock, read its complete cost. Afterward, check the resulting cap, actual level and remaining balances.
Which blueprint sources should I check?
Community guides and player records identify aircraft-blueprint purchases, Emergency Sortie rewards, the pass and Challenges as relevant sources. Their quoted daily allowances and seasonal reward totals are not a promise for every future season or build. Use the current reward screen to decide whether another mission can still give the material you need.
Scramble and Emergency Sortie availability is random and limited-time according to the official FAQ. Repeatedly waiting for a special mission and having an eligible blueprint reward are two separate constraints.
Plan one next upgrade
Choose an aircraft you intend to fly, note the next upgrade’s full costs, and compare that benefit with saving materials. This is a planning suggestion, not a measured fastest farming route. Costs shown in one F-35C example should not be copied into a universal cost table.
