ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE — Scramble & Emergency Sortie Guide
Official Online availability and player counts. No fixed interval, guaranteed spawn probability or platform-specific invitation route is established.
At a glance
Scramble is a four-player special PvE mission; Emergency Sortie lets up to eight players fight series superweapons together. The official FAQ says these opportunities occur randomly for a limited time while playing the core Online modes.
Scramble and Emergency Sortie compared
Scramble and Emergency Sortie are special ACE COMBAT ONLINE missions that can appear randomly for a limited time while playing Co-Op Assault or Co-Op Warfare. They are not a permanently selectable Campaign mission list.
| Special mission | Players | Officially described encounter |
|---|---|---|
| Scramble | A team of four | Powerful NPC enemy forces |
| Emergency Sortie | Up to eight cooperating players | Legendary superweapons from the ACE COMBAT series |
Both are distinct from the regular Online co-op modes. The core modes themselves involve two teams of four, which should not be mistaken for an eight-player Scramble team.
Why a mission may not be available
The official FAQ describes random, time-limited availability. Not seeing an offer after a particular number of matches is not, on its own, evidence of a broken unlock.
Continue playing the core Online modes and watch for the game’s special-mission opportunity. When one appears, check the mission name and any remaining availability shown before preparing your aircraft. This explains the availability rule; it does not prescribe a verified button-by-button invitation route for every platform.
Is there a guaranteed timer or probability?
The official FAQ does not publish a fixed interval, guaranteed number of matches or drop probability. Community logs can describe what happened to their authors, but a player’s long wait or counted matches does not establish a universal schedule.
Do not plan around an unverified promise that a mission appears every 30 minutes, or that a particular aircraft level forces it to spawn. If an offer expires, its absence does not prove that Campaign progress needs to be repeated.
Choosing what to do next
- Looking for a four-player special PvE encounter? Watch for Scramble.
- Looking for the larger shared superweapon battle? Watch for Emergency Sortie, with up to eight players.
- Looking for upgrade materials? Check the actual reward and remaining allowance displayed in your game. A special mission’s availability and a particular reward’s eligibility are separate questions; see Online progression and blueprints.
Online uses its own progression and save data. Campaign aircraft ownership is not proof of ownership in Online.
